It’s been often said that life is too short for bad food, bad friends, or bad coffee. Here at Blu Boy we couldn’t agree more. We strive to provide some of the finest cups of artisan-roasted coffee in town, and I think we make pretty good friends as well.
We’re particularly proud of our single origin coffee Daterra Sweet Blue. The Daterra Company was Brazil’s first sustainable coffee farm and in 2003 it also became the first coffee producers in Brazil to be Rainforest Alliance certified.
The plantations are located in the Cerrado and Mogiana regions of Brazil, where the average altitude is 3,800 feet and temperatures hover around 70 degrees most of the year. This environment produces the stellar coffee beans that have helped Daterra gain worldwide recognition. In the 2008 World Barista Championship four out of six of the WBC finalists used Daterra coffee in their blends.
After leaving Brazil the coffee beans head up to Indiana’s very own Nick Schultz of Brown County Coffee, where he adds the special medium roast that brings out their slightly spicy and dark chocolate-like flavor. The combination of sustainably sourced and locally roasted beans means that every stop on your coffee’s journey is traceable and held accountable to the highest standards.
So next time you stop in for a pick-me-up give the Daterra Sweet Blue a try! It’s made a long journey just be there.
