What's been going on at BLU Boy Chocolate Cafe you might wonder?
Chef Jackie donates her time and talent to the Slow Food Farmer's Market Soup Tasting.
Her absolutely delicious Warm Caramel Apple and Persimmon Soup rocked the tent. Using apples from Musgrave Orchard and persimmon pulp from Teresa Birtles at Heartland Family Farm along with some other super secret, gotta kill ya if I tell ya ingredients she demonstrated that a little creativity and perseverance in the kitchen can take you far. Lesson: Don't be afraid to experiment!
Repairing the house made of bricks.
Rumor has it that the construction work to our building is finished. After several disruptive days the the theater's face lift seems to be complete. Thank you to all of you who braved the cranes and ropes and detours to venture in to BLU.
Nashville, IN Chocolate Walk
We just finished a full day of sampling out chocolates during the First Annual Brown County Humane Society's Chocolate Walk. It was a huge success and a great way to raise money for the Society. Twenty-five or so vendors participated by donating 600 samples of their own chocolate creation as participants went from one chocolate station to the next. That's 25 chocolate treats for $15 and a great afternoon of fun and philanthropy. What more can you ask for? No doubt it will happen again next year so visit their website for more details as they become available.
Holiday Stuff at BLU Boy
Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas are down the road. We have just posted our Thanksgiving pie offerings - Local Apple, Local Blackberry (we were clever and saved a bunch from this summer) and Pumpkin. The very popular Cranberry Pomegranate Tart and Viennese Pear Tart are back to complete the Holiday line-up. You are best off to order these in advance as we will only have a limited number grab-and-go pies available the days before Thanksgiving. Please call 812-334-8460 to place your order. They can be available for pick up any time between 10a-6pm Wed. Nov. 26th.
What about the chocolate? We will have many new season flavors available just after Thanksgiving so come by and check it out. We will be introducing our Hot Chocolate Bar - creamy, thick hot chocolate to which we can add a variety of delicious mix-ins: raspberry puree, orange, hazelnut, ancho chile and cinnamon, and YES, fresh house-made marshmallows.
Lighting Ceremony and Gingerbread House Demonstration
It's become an annual tradition for BLU Boy to partner with Goods for Cooks on the square to create an over-sized gingerbread house. This year we'll be finishing the house in Goods' window just before the Canopy of Lights ceremony downtown. Fun, fun, fun!
New Classes at BLU
We have added a few fun holiday options to our regularly popular hand-rolled truffle class. Learn to make a yule log or crazy good hot chocolate with home made marshmallows. Come in to the shop or call 812-334-8460 for details and dates. Because we teach hands-on classes and our space is the size of a matchbox we have to limit the class size to 4 people.
There you go!

You all have been busy - and that's a good thing.
Thanks for the update and here's to more success and happy holidays!
